JIHYE LEE ORCHESTRA
INFINITE CONNECTIONS
On May 31, Korean-born, Brooklyn-based, composer, arranger, and conductor JIHYE [jee-hey] LEE released her 3rd orchestral album to glowing reviews in top publications worldwide including 4-star Editors Pick's in Downbeat and the Financial Times, and a nomination for the prestigious German Critics' Award! All this confirming her reputation as one of the most creative and dynamic large-ensemble leader/composers in jazz today.  With the deeply personal, and thoroughly exciting INFINITE CONNECTIONS, Lee fuses traditional Korean rhythms with contemporary orchestral jazz to explore themes of identity, culture, womanhood, and the very cycle of life. Ambrose Akinmusire plays two great features!

AWA SANGHO
MAMA!

“I wrote this in tribute to my Mama who carried me and has supported me in every step of my life, and to tribute mothers everywhere for their selfless devotion to the next generation.”
Awa Sangho – "The Golden Voice of Mali"
Born in the desert of Mali, and having lived in Bamako, Abidjan, Paris, New York City, and now the San Francisco Bay Area, Awa is an 'Afropolitan' who's performed with Salif Keita, Ali Farka Toure, Oumou Sangare, Manu Dibango, Amadou & Mariam and Les Amazon D'Afrique.  Her star as a solo artist began to rise with her masterful debut album on Motéma, ALA TA. The tender, chill, yet deeply grooving Afrobeat masterwork, Mama! is the first single from a fantastic new Sangho’s album coming in 2025!  Be sure to follow Awa's Socials to stay in the know as this story develops.
